Will Medway’s panto star be King of the Jungle?

Date: 10/11/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

The star of The Central Theatre’s pantomime, Joe Swash will appear in the hit ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Here, which starts this Sunday. Joe will pack up his rucksack and fly to Australia this week, ready to face a string of gruelling challenges in the jungle, watched back home by legions of avid viewers during nightly updates and 24-hour online coverage. It’s a long way from EastEnders’ Albert Square, where Joe won the hearts of millions of viewers as mischievous market trader Mickey Miller. Since leaving the soap in July, Joe has continued to be a firm favourite with family audiences, recently proving he’s game for a laugh with appearances on the BBC’s madcap Saturday show Hole in The Wall and on ITV’s Family Fortunes. So the fans are sure to keep the phones ringing in a bid to save him from eviction from the jungle. However he copes down under, Joe can look forward to a huge welcome back in Medway as he steps on to the Central Theatre stage to star as Buttons in Cinderella this Christmas. And after facing the terrors of the bush tucker trials, the Ugly Sisters won’t seem quite that bad after all. Cinderella runs at The Central Theatre from 12 December 2008 to 4 January 2009.
