Community Safety Partnership roadshows

Date: 14/11/2008           Category: Community Safety

Medway’s residents are being given the chance help make their community safer. The Medway Community Safety Partnership (CSP) will have information points at eight venues in November and December where residents can identify what individual crime and disorder issues are a priority to them from a selection of 10 themes, including violence, antisocial behaviour and substance misuse. The results will be used to shape the Partnership’s priorities for 2009 to 2012. Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Safety and Enforcement Cllr Rehman Chishti said: “These roadshows are an excellent way of giving residents the opportunity to tell the Partnership what issues are important to them and how we can help resolve them to make Medway a safer place. As ever, if residents have any immediate problems they should contact Kent Police or the Safer Communities officers at Medway Council.” Inspector Dave Coleman from Kent Police in Medway said: “This is a great opportunity for residents who have any concerns about policing issues in their neighbourhood to come along and have their say. ”Working alongside our partner agencies and engaging with the public we can make Medway an even safer place to live, work and socialise. Crime in Medway is continuing to fall and we are always keen to speak to our communities. You set the priorities, we take the action.” The Partnership involves many agencies, including Kent Police, Medway Council, Kent Fire and Rescue, Kent Probation, and the NHS, who work together with the common aim of reducing crime and antisocial behaviour.
