Council’s leisure centres offer unrivalled customer service.

Medway Leisure has been awarded the highest customer service accolade possible after achieving Customer Service Excellence standard. The award signifies that Medway Leisure provides a customer service that is 'efficient, excellent and effective.' In order to achieve the status Medway Leisure was tested in great depth in areas that are a priority for customers, with particular focus on delivery, timeliness, information, professionalism and staff attitude. The Customer Service Excellence standard is the new replacement for Charter Mark and is a much tougher assessment to pass, with an 80 per cent pass mark compared to Charter Marks’s 70 per cent. There are only 10 holders of the standard in the South East including London, and there are only 80 organisations that have successfully achieved the standard in the whole of the UK. All existing Charter Mark holders will be required to move to this new standard and Charter Mark will disappear completely within the next 3 years. Portfolio Holder for Community Services, Howard Doe said: “This is an outstanding achievement for the leisure department, and Medway Council as a whole. Medway Leisure put a lot of hard work into providing an impressive customer service, so this award is greatly deserved. The fact that there are very few holders of the standard mean this is yet another great way of putting Medway on the map.”
