Pupils from Greenvale Infant School in Chatham will be singing in the festive season with a carol concert and tree decorating ceremony next Monday (8). The children and their families will be making tree decorations at the All Saints Sure Start Children’s Centre from 10am to 12noon. The decorations will be made from recycled yoghurt pots, plastic lids, coloured paper and glitter. The group will then dress trees in the park outside the centre in Magpie Hall Road. Tree dressing is a multi-cultural tradition which takes place at various times of the year in different countries. In Britain, it is celebrated on the first weekend of December. Community Development Officer Jo Bunn said: “We are being environmentally friendly and recycling yoghurt pots, plastic lids and anything that can be used to make interesting decorations. “A choir from Greenvale School will be singing carols and will be accompanied by the centre’s keyboard player. We will also be enjoying some festive refreshments while listening to the singing in the Boardroom Café in the centre.” You are welcome to send a media crew to the centre to capture the start of their festive celebrations.
