Screen classics at The Central Theatre

Date: 30/12/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

The Central Theatre will present its first ever season of classic films starting on Tuesday, 13 January at 7.30pm. Film fans can now enjoy some of the best-loved films, many of which have been digitally re-mastered, in the stylish comfort of the theatre’s auditorium and on a full sized screen. Programmer and host Nick Walker will give a brief scene-setting introduction before each showing. The first film of the season will be the enduring seasonal favourite It’s A Wonderful Life (certificate U), directed by Frank Capra and starring James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore. Stewart puts in arguably his finest film performance as George Bailey, whose attempted suicide on Christmas Eve gains the attention of Clarence, a guardian angel. With the help of his otherworldly overlords, can Clarence persuade George to take a step back from the abyss and see his world for what it is; a wonderful life? Tickets for each film in the Screen Classics season cost £5. Customers who have been to see four films will get a fifth free. To book in advance contact the box office on 01634 338338 or visit www.medway.gov.uk/theatrebooking. Tickets are also available on the door, subject to availability. ENDS
