Voluntary and community groups operating in Medway are being invited to apply for cash through a small grants programme. The scheme, run by Medway Council, is open to groups whose activities benefit Medway residents. Applications must be received by Friday, 28 August on a form supplied by the council. Last year Brook Lines Resident Action Group (BLRAG) was awarded £1,000 through the programme. The group used the money to buy a laptop and printer for the secretary to produce agendas and minutes and the community newsletter. The funding also contributed towards the Public Liability Indemnity insurance and towards the cost of venue hire for meetings. Chairman of the Group Jon Bear said: “Without the small grants funding we would not have been able to buy the equipment to help the group run effectively. The group takes up issues of concern locally and without the equipment, we would not be able to do this effectively.” For further information please contact Tracy Stevens, on 01634 333185 or email: email@example.com or by post Tracy Stevens, Voluntary Sector Co-ordinator, Social Care Commissioning and Welfare Benefits Team, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TR.
