Couples looking for somewhere special to get married are invited to a Wedding Open Day at Upnor Castle on Sunday, 7 March. Set against a backdrop of almost 500 years of history, the turreted castle is situated in a picturesque waterfront village and backed by rolling, wooded hills. Built in 1559 to defend the warships of Queen Elizabeth I, the castle is fronted by a water bastion jutting out into the River Medway, offering an exclusive backdrop for wedding photographs. The open day takes place between 11am and 3pm and admission is free. Registrars will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be a chance to see some samples of special Upnor Castle wedding stationary and visit the room where wedding ceremonies take place, complete with beautiful floral displays. Upnor Castle will be closed to the general public during the open day. For more information phone 01634 338106.
