Safety is the theme of family fun day

Date: 18/05/2011           Category: Community Safety

Stay safe this summer with top tips and advice from organisations across Medway at a community fun day next month.

The Medway Community Safety Event takes place from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday, 1 June at the Strand leisure park Gillingham.

The event is open to everyone in Medway and gives residents the opportunity to meet the teams that keep Medway safe, clean and green plus the opportunity to give us your views on how to make things even better.

Visitors on the day can get road safety advice including free car seat checks and advice about using the roads and railways responsibly in Medway.

The SOS Bus will be on site and there will be a mobile police station present.

Officers from Kent Fire & Rescue Service will be on hand to offer tips for staying safe indoors and offering free home safety visits, while Trading Standard officers will be checking safety of pushchairs and testing toys.

Responsible pet owners can get their dog micro-chipped for free on the day, thanks to officers from Medway Council’s Environmental Health Team.

And there will also be plenty to keep the children entertained with face painting, an inflatable assault course, a bouncy castle, balloons, a mini beasts search and Percy the Penguin. Plus there will be lots of giveaways on the day.
