Enthusiastic volunteers of all ages are needed to bring a lottery-funded project to life in Medway.
The Red Reading and Reminiscence Box Project will see volunteers running reading and reminiscence activities in residential homes, day care centres, sheltered housing and hospices.
The project is being delivered by CSV, the UK’s leading training and volunteering charity, in partnership with Kent Libraries and Archives’ Red Box scheme, which inspired the project’s name, and Medway Council.
The Red Box scheme currently involves approximately 244 care establishments across Kent and Medway, who subscribe to the service and receive boxes of library items and reminiscence materials on long-term loans.
Currently seven locations in Medway are awaiting volunteer. They are:
· Walter Brice Day Centre, High Halstow
· Macklands House, Rainham
· Medway Age Concern, Gillingham and Strood
· Pembroke House, Gillingham
· Byron Lodge Nursing Home, Gillingham
· Kingsdale Court, Chatham
· The Grange Residential Home, Hoo
