Media invite: New soccer centre opens in Medway

Media invite: Saturday, 26 January 9am to 2pm Kicks Soccer Centre, Strood Leisure Centre, Watling Street, Strood. England football legend and Chelsea hero Ray Wilkins will officially open a new soccer centre in Medway at the end of this month. Ray, who won 84 caps for his country during the seventies, will be at the Kicks Soccer Centre from 12noon and 2pm on Saturday, 26 January. The day will kick off at 9am with a charity football tournament in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. Visitors can enjoy taster session and watch displays from the centre users from 10am, including children from the Roger Wilkes Ju Jitsu Club and SHOKK gym. There will also be free swimming sessions between 12noon and 2pm. The centre will offer a wide range of activities including five-a-side leagues, a women’s league and coaching, and Pro Futures Soccer Schools that are being run in conjunction with Chelsea Football Club Academy. Members of the public can also hire the football pitches. Kicks five-a-side leagues are fully sanctioned by the FA and officiated by qualified referees. Players can battle it out for promotion on one of the centre’s six state-of-the-art, floodlit five-a-side Astroturf pitches or one seven-a-side pitch.
