Teenagers get on their bikes to stay fit and healthy

Date: 07/02/2008           Category: Leisure

Going to the gym might not be everyone’s favourite pastime, but it’s paid off in more ways than one for two Medway teenagers. Andrew Clayton, 14, and Jamarn Clarke, 13 have been members of the Shokk’s youth gym at the Black Lion Leisure Centre in Gillingham since it opened in September 2005. The teenagers have each been presented with a new BMX bike in recognition of their hard work and commitment to stay fit and healthy. Young people aged eight to 16 can use the gym and members are rewarded throughout the year for reaching personal targets. Andrew and Jamarn were given the bicycles after becoming the first members to reach a 2,000 point target. Shokk Gym Manager Mark Krasij and Black Lion Leisure Centre Manager Dave Young presented the teenagers with their prizes. Dave said “It is great to see so many young people using the Shokk gym. Both Andrew and Jamarn have been regular users of the gym and are the first people to win a bike.” To find out more about Shokk Gym and to receive a free seven-day pass, call Mark Krasij on 0800 3777577 between 3pm and 8pm daily, or call the main reception on 01634 283700.
