Help is at hand for adult learners

Date: 08/02/2008           Category: Adult Learning

Is financial hardship, a disability or a learning difficulty preventing you from getting the qualifications you need to find work or get promoted in your job? Medway Adult Learning Service, in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council, may be able to provide the assistance you need to study, whether you need help with tuition fees, pay for books, examination costs, travel or childcare. Or perhaps you need classroom support for your disability or learning difficulty to help you achieve a qualification. Learner Services Manager Heather Drew said: “Gaining qualifications allows people to enhance their career choices or to achieve for a variety of personal reasons. It is a shame that many people are unaware of the help available to them.” This year, these funds have helped 160 people to sign-up to courses to start their learning journey. A number of learners with sight and hearing impairments are also getting extra help in the classroom to help them achieve their goals. If you want to find out more, contact Heather on 01634 338405 for an informal chat about your interests and needs.
