Students at Barnsole get road Smart

Date: 11/02/2008           Category: Highways Traffic and Parking

Juggling, unicycling, singing and circus skills will be used to teach children at an infant school in Gillingham the importance of road safety this week. Comedy duo The Smart Brothers will bring their theatre show to Barnsole Infant School in Sturdee Avenue on Wednesday, 13, to demonstrate the importance of crossing the road and cycling safely; the dangers of using mobile phones and listening to music with headphones near the road, and being safe when travelling on foot. Actors Stuart Clark and Jason Perry, who play brothers Freddie and Eddie Smart, have performed their 45-minute road safety show to more than 90,000 school children across the country. Medway Council’s Safer Journeys officer James Sutton said: “We have an excellent working relationship with both the infant and junior schools. They are committed to developing their school travel plan, to achieve the benefits it can bring to the whole community.” The performance begins at 10.30am. You are welcome to send a photographer either before the start of the performance, or when it finishes at 11.15am.
