Medway Folk Cellar to host an intoxicating evening

Date: 15/02/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

Phil Beer, a folk goliath over the last four decades, will play Medway Folk Cellar at The Central Theatre, Chatham on Tuesday, 4 March. Currently one half of the acclaimed acoustic duo, Show of Hands, Beer's instrumental wizardry goes a long way back and is well documented. He first began to play guitar, fiddle and mandolin at school and by the age of 16 was regularly gigging. He has toured and recorded with Mike Oldfield and Steve Harley and spent the best part of the 80s as the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter with The Albion Band. Alongside Show of Hands and solo commitments, Beer continues to undertake session work and played on The Rolling Stones' Steel Wheels. Tickets are £10, folk mailing list members and Friends of The Central Theatre £9. For bookings call box office on 01634 338338, email boxoffice@medway.gov.uk or visit www.medway.gov.uk/theatres.
