Cash injection helps rejuvenate park

Date: 01/04/2008           Category: Greenspaces

Watts Meadow in Rochester has had a facelift - nearly £50,000 has been spent. The improvements were completed and funded as part of members' priorities to ensure safer public access and better information. New notice boards will include a site map and information together with providing an opportunity for the Watts Meadow Volunteers to advertise their activities. Other improvements include new litter and dog bins, replacement of two sets of steps to ensure safe public access from neighbouring residential areas and the creation of new surfaced footpath forming a circular walkway around the site. Medway Council's Portfolio Holder for Community Services Cllr Howard Doe said: "These improvements will ensure the whole community can continue to use and enjoy this park." Further work to re-establish grassland areas will be completed by the Countryside Team later this year.
