Medway sports club audit

Date: 26/02/2008           Category: Leisure

The most comprehensive survey ever undertaken of Medway’s sports clubs has been launched. Medway Council’s Sports Development Team wants every sports club and organisation in the area to take part. As the work to transform the Black Lion Leisure Centre into a regional centre of sporting excellence – Medway Park – continues, and the announcement that the Modern Pentathlon will come to Medway in April 2010, the team wants to hear from every local club and team. Tina Martin from the council’s Sports Development Team said: “This is the most extensive sporting survey ever carried out in Medway. We want to hear from anyone that runs a sporting club, whether it’s a small club or a large multi-sport, multi-team organisation. “This will provide a true picture of both the good work that local sports clubs do and the number of people taking advantage of these sporting opportunities and participating in regular, organised sporting activities in Medway.” The information will be used to tailor the training and support offered to sports clubs and coaches to nurture the area’s sports men and women of the future, as well as unlocking funding for clubs to improve services and develop qualification opportunities for coaches. The information will also be used to create Medway’s first online directory for clubs. Every club that completes a questionnaire will receive a free seven-day pass for all its members to Medway’s sports and leisure facilities. Each club will also receive one free place for a club representative at a club or coach development workshop. Completed forms can be posted back to Medway Sports Club Audit, Freepost, Medway Renaissance. You can take part in the survey by calling Mike Evans on 01634 338135 or email mike.evans@medway.gov.uk
