St Bart's Hospital in Rochester has been presented with two new wheelchairs thanks to the generosity of the Gillingham Lions Club. Members of the media are welcome to attend a photo opportunity on Thursday, 13 March at 11am in the John Fisher Day Hospital (please report to main reception at St Bart's). Grain Carer's Group approached the Gillingham Lions Club to fund two wheelchairs for the hospital. The idea is that disabled people can use the wheelchairs, rather than bringing their own, when visiting the hospital. A similar scheme already exists at Medway Maritime Hospital. Modern Matron at St Bart's Wendy Bennett will accept the wheelchairs on behalf of the hospital and Medway Primary Care Trust. She said: "We are very grateful to the Lions. These wheelchairs will come in very handy and are much appreciated by everyone at the hospital and PCT."
