Paul Tonkinson, ex Big Breakfast presenter and TV, radio and stand-up regular, will headline Medway Comedy Club at The Brook Theatre, Chatham on Monday, 7 April, 8.45pm. Supporting Paul will be five up-and-coming comics from the stand-up circuit. Arguably best known as a presenter on the Big Breakfast and the Sunday Show, Tonkinson began his career as a stand-up comic. He won the Time Out New Act of the Year in 1992 and has spent the last 16 years performing throughout the UK, regularly appearing at The Edinburgh Festival and picking up the Time Out Stand-Up of the Year in 1997. Tonkinson, whose credits also include Xfm Radio, is a rubber-faced, cheeky and charismatic comedian with an insatiable knowledge of popular culture. Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2008 winner, Steve Weiner leads the support. Founding member of the Theatre of the Banal, Weiner is a skilled caricaturist who also runs comedy seminars under the pseunonym Dr Troy Winkler. Harvey Ovenden, Lenny Peters and Martin Hill complete the bill, with Charlie Baker as MC. Tickets are just £7, Medway Comedy Club members, £6. To book, call box office on 01634 338338, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.medway.gov.uk/theatres. Medway Comedy Club is for over 18s only.
