When: Friday, 11 and 18 April; 3.30pm Where: Boardroom Café, All Saint’s Sure Start Children’s Centre, Magpie Hall Road, Chatham. Future Nigella Lawsons and Jamie Olivers will learn how to rustle up healthy meals during a cookery course in Chatham. Children who have signed up to the Little Chefs course at the All Saint’s Sure Start Children’s Centre in Magpie Hall Road, will be taught how to select and measure ingredients and cook a culinary feast during a four-week course, which began on Friday, 28 March. During the course, they will be taught how to cook a variety of dishes that they can cook at home. The children will be able to take their food home with them, as well as recipe card so they can cook the dishes with their parents. Nutritionist David Lee, who runs the course, said the lessons encourage children to make healthy food choices. He said: “The Little Chefs cookery course gives children the opportunity to learn about ingredients and what different foods taste like. “We have found that children are more likely to eat healthier food if they have been involved with the selection of ingredients and preparation of the dishes. The recipe cards also encourage children to cook at home and think about the food they are eating.” You can find out more about Little Chefs and how to take part in the next course by calling 01634 338833.
