Bach to Baroque at The Central Theatre, Chatham

The world-renowned City of London Sinfonia Orchestra continues its season of concerts at the Central Theatre in Chatham on 24 April, 7.30pm with an evening of beautiful Baroque masterpieces. For this evening’s programme the spotlight falls on the orchestra’s celebrated string section, beginning and ending with two brilliant concertos by Vivaldi – Violin Concerto in E Minor (Il Favorito) and Concerto in B Minor for Four Violins. At the centre lies Bach’s magnificent Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins, and the last of Handel;s pivotal set of Twelve Grand Concertos. In contrast the programme will also feature Rossini’s youthful String Sonata No.1 in G, and a piece by contemporary Finnish composer Nordgren, based on traditional fiddle tunes. There will be a pre-concert talk by Director Nicholas Ward, and an encore performance in the Cellar Bar, which is free to ticket holders, subject to capacity. Tickets cost £18 and £15.
