Work experience

people dressed smartMedway Council actively supports unpaid work placements for a wide variety of people, such as school students, college/university students/graduates, unemployed and adults with learning and/or physical disabilities.

Each individual has their own reason for seeking this work experience, it could be to gain:

  • practical knowledge to support theoretical learning;
  • an insight into a potential future career;
  • employability skills and an invaluable workplace reference to enhance employment prospects;
  • work confidence after a long absence from the workplace i.e. redundancy, childcare or ill-health.

Applications for placements are open during February and October to anyone who is a resident of Medway or studying at an educational establishment within Medway.  

How to apply

If you wish to apply for an unpaid work placement, please send an email to: workexperience@medway.gov.uk attaching a copy of your current CV and including the following details about yourself:

  • name;
  • address;
  • telephone number;
  • email;
  • details of any disabilities, medical conditions or specific needs;
  • start date and length of placement sought;
  • details of ICT skills (such as use of internet, word processing, spreadsheets);
  • a brief description of the type of work experience required.
