Arts

Medway Council Arts Development Team is based at The Brook Theatre in Chatham and organises a range of exciting and inspiring projects, events and activities throughout Medway for people of all ages.

Our aim is to nurture creative talent and provide inspiring and innovative arts and cultural experiences to enrich the lives of Medway's residents and visitors.Fuse logo

The Arts Development Team also delivers the annual Fuse Medway Festival which transforms Medway's streets and open spaces with free arts events and with people from all walks of life helping to make it happen.

This year's festival will take place from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 June, with Lighting the Fuse from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 June.

Exhibitions

VIC Rochester Art GalleryRochester Art Gallery and Craft Case features a changing annual exhibition programme of high quality contemporary art and craft that is of regional, national and international significance. The gallery delivers education and learning alongside artist-led workshops, talks and off-site projects. The gallery also provides continuous professional development for artists and makers, with free access to the gallery's Artist Resource for practical information and support.

Dance

Dance for life 50+A wide range of high quality dance classes, events, performance and  professional development opportunities add to the dance ecology of Medway.

 

 

Young People

Young People Lion King workshop

The Arts Development Team provides a  range of exciting and creative workshops for young people under 25, including holiday workshops, term time classes and free drop-in family activities at festivals and events throughout the year.

 

 

PerformanceLight and Shadow and Literature

Throughout the year there are opportunities to enjoy a variety of performances organised by and in partnership with Medway Council Arts Team.

In partnership with Medway Council Library Service, the Arts Team organises the annual Wigmore Lecture series. Set up in 1947 by local librarian Norman Tomlinson, the lectures offer local people an opportunity to enjoy a varied, stimulating and accessible range of talks at affordable price.
