Cultural inspection report
This report (pdf
238KB), published by the Audit Commission on 30 June 2005, looks at
Medway’s tourism, events, arts development and libraries. To use
this file you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have it
on your computer, please use our advice
page.
The inspection team also examined Medway’s leisure centres,
museums, parks and open spaces and reported that:
"The council can demonstrate that the cultural activities it
supports contribute to improving the quality of life for local
people. The wide range of high quality arts and heritage
opportunities bring economic benefits. The service has effective
processes and systems to drive improvement, but there is more to do
to measure its impact more effectively."
The report highlights a number of Medway’s successes, including
not only its famous events such as the Dickens, Chinese New
Year and Will Adams festivals and
the Castle Concerts but also the
increased audience numbers at the Central
Theatre, Chatham and the library at
Dock Road, Chatham.
