Young People

The Arts Team organises workshops for under 18s during all the major school holidays each year: Meltdown (February break), Springboard (spring break), Heatwave (summer holidays) and Fallout (autumn break).

Workshops include dance, drama, music, vocals, art and craft, plus special family activities to which parents can accompany younger children.

These activities happen at The Brook Theatre and a range of other venues across Medway including libraries, community centres, village halls, country parks and heritage sites. Suited to every pocket, fees range from £55 for week-long workshops and £14 for one-day workshops, to completely free drop-in or specially-funded workshops.

For most activities it is essential that parents book in advance and we have a special booking form that we will need you to complete.

If you would like advance information on future workshops, priority booking opportunities and special offers, please contact the Arts Team on 01634 338319 or at arts@medway.gov.uk

Festivals and other local events

Alongside our holiday workshops, we can often be found offering fun, free, drop-in workshops for families at major Medway events. These extremely popular activities usually take place in tents or outdoors and operate on a first-come-first-served basis.

We regularly appear at the Medway Mile, Will Adams Festival, Capstone Festival and English Festival, as well as the Arts Team’s own Fuse Medway Festival. This is a great way for families to try arts and crafts for the first time and to find out more about what the Arts Team has to offer. Just look out for us in our bright pink t-shirts and join us for some creative fun.

Special projects

Throughout the year there are always several opportunities for young people, families or the wider community to get involved in exciting special projects. These projects are almost always free to join as the result of successful funding applications or valuable partnerships with other organisations.
