Holocaust Memorial Day
National
Holocaust Memorial Day (January 27) has been held in the UK since
2001 ensuring we never forget the awful acts of inhumanity
committed in modern history. Holocaust Memorial Day also
remembers terrible atrocities that occurred before the Holocaust
and up to the present day.

There are millions of stories that will never know. Stories of
individuals, communities and towns, those who suffered under Nazi
persecution to those who were murdered under the exclusionary
policies in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur.
How does it relate to today?
Genocide is an act of extreme exclusion. By understanding how
the building blocks of genocide are laid, we can deal positively
with people who are bullies, who stereotype, persecute or attack
those who are different. Clearly this links in with Hate Crime
management and our positive action can go some way to honouring
those whose lives have been destroyed.
Holocaust Memorial Day creates opportunities for all diverse
strands of our communities to come together to remember the past
and commit to creating a better future. With a safer and more
inclusive society, where differences between us are respected and
valued.
Holocaust Memorial Day 2012
