Medway Boat Race
The Medway Boat race is now a firm fixture in Medway’s
sporting calendar. Student rowers from the three universities which
share the campus at Chatham Maritime – Kent, Canterbury Christ
Church and Greenwich – battle it out for the right to call
themselves rulers of the River Medway.
There are races for both women and men, with rowers once more
tackling a course of approximately 2.6 kilometres, between Cuxton
and the Esplanade in Rochester.

The 2011 event took place on Saturday, 14 May with the
women's race up first up at 11am followed by the men's race at
12noon.
In the women's race, students from Greenwich, Kent and
Canterbury Christ Church beat the team from the Medway
Towns Rowing Club (MTRC).
In the men's race, the University of Greenwich came first, with
Canterbury Christ Church second, and Kent third.
The event is organised by Universities at Medway Students’
Association (UMSA) (www.umsa.org.uk/), which represents
all students at the shared Medway campus. Medway Boat Race day is
fast becoming a popular campus tradition.
