Group swimming lessons are available for all ages, from
babies to 16-year-olds. The courses only run in school term

Our adult lessons are six-week courses with classes to suit
different stages of ability.
- Beginners - Mondays and Fridays 8.30pm to 9.15pm
- Improvers - Monday 9.15pm to 10pm, Wednesday 8.30pm to 9.15pm
and 9.15pm to 10pm
- Advanced – Friday 9.15pm to 10pm

Adult to child ratios
General child admission policy
In accordance with industry guidelines, and our own risk
assessment, we enforce the following policy within Medway Council
managed leisure facilities and swimming pools.
All children under 11 years of age must be
accompanied by a responsible person, aged 16 years or over, within
the facilities for unsupervised activities. For example, swimming,
badminton, table tennis, squash etc.
If the responsible person is not participating
in the activity, and is only supervising/spectating, then an
admission charge will not be applied.
Admission Policy For Children
In addition to the “General Admission Policy”
the following guidance must also be followed for admission to the
Children under 4 years
Children under four years of age must be
accompanied in the water by a responsible person, aged 16 years or
over, on a one-to-one ratio.
However, one adult may accompany two children
under four years of age if they are wearing a suitable
buoyancy aid that is “Kite Marked” or carries a BS EN Number.
Buoyancy aids accepted under this policy are those that fully
support the child's weight in the water and remain secure in and
out of the water. For example, armbands or a float jacket.
Buoyancy aids that are hand held - such as
floats - are not considered appropriate.
Children aged 4 to 7
Children aged four to seven years of
age must be accompanied in the water by a responsible person, aged
16 years or over, with no more than two children per
One responsible person aged 16 years or
over may supervise up to three children aged between four
to seven years of age in the Teaching Pool.
Children aged 8 to 11
Children aged eight to 11 years of age
must be accompanied into the facility by a responsible person aged
16 years or over.
The responsible person is not required to
enter the water, but must remain within the facility and supervise
the children. If the responsible person will only be spectating
then an admission charge will not be applied.
Children aged 11 years and
No accompaniment necessary.
Family sessions are aimed at families only. An adult must remain
in the pool at all times during these sessions. One adult can only
accompany up to a maximum of four children.
