Getting started at the library

Membership of Medway Libraries is free. Once your have a membership number, you can access a wide range of information and entertainment at the library and online.

You do not need to bring any identification with you to join immediately as a light customer, which allows you to take out up to three books. If you want to use the full range of services you will need to bring in some identification, such as a utility bill or driving licence. If you are under 16 years old, your parent or guardian will need to provide proof of your identity.

With full membership, you can borrow up to 30 items from the library, selecting from:

Renewing a library book and other items

Borrowing books and using computers is free. Find out how to renew a library book.

You can receive reservation and overdue notices from Medway Libraries by email; this saves on postage and paper. To take advantage of this service either ask next time you visit the library or log into the catalogue to change your preferences and add your email address.
