Donations

Medway Libraries and Archives accept good quality books, audiobooks and jigsaws that meet the requirements of the Donations stock policy. Please ask in any Medway library if you wish to view the policy.

As a guide, books need to be attractive and strong enough to cope with regular handling. Donated items may be relocated or subsequently withdrawn, discarded or sold according to requirements.

Books

Books should:

  • have been recently published;
  • be complete;
  • have clean pages, not yellow or shabby;
  • have covers that are clean and uncreased (paperbacks);
  • have a dust jacket with no tears (hardbacks).

Jigsaws

Jigsaws should: be complete have boxes in good condition.

Audio books

Audio books should: be on CD, not cassette, be in an undamaged case. Film and music DVDs, Blu-rays and Music CDs are not accepted.

Local interest

Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre welcome donations that enhance the collection. These include: books of local interest, about Medway and Kent, books by Kentish authors, local photographs and maps, other documents of local interest.

If you have local studies items to donate or original documents that you are willing to allow Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre to copy for the collection please call 01634 332714.
