CATKITs

CATKITThanks to support from the Canterbury Archaeological Trust, schools in Medway can now borrow a CATKIT from the Guildhall Museum.

A CATKIT is a carefully assembled resource box full of genuine historic items for handling in the classroom. A typical selection might include:

  • animal bones
  • Iron Age and Romano-British pottery
  • building materials
  • fine china fragments
  • a clay pipe.

A booklet is included with descriptions of all objects and suggestions for activities to try in the classroom. More information about CATKITs is on the Canterbury Archaeological Trust's web pages.

How to borrow a CATKIT

Medway schools can obtain a CATKIT, on loan for an agreed period, in two ways:

  1. you can book a museum outreach session and the box will be delivered at the same time
  2. you can arrange with the museum to pick up and return the box yourself by phoning 01634 332900.

There is no additional charge for the loan and use of the CATKIT.
