Riverside Country Park in Lower Rainham will transform into a
trio of exciting zoned areas for the annual English festival which
will be held on Saturday, 22 April from 11am to 5pm.
The English Festival is a fun-packed free day out for the whole
family celebrating the most iconic and ironic of English traditions.
There are lots of new attractions this
year. The event will feature a new Iconic England zone, where
visitors will be able to enjoy a performance by St George and The
Dragon, while playing a spot of bingo! There will also be an
appearance by Mods on scooters.
The Village Square will feature a new English High Street, land
train and bandstand entertainment.
The final zone is the Countryside Experience, packed with baby
farm animals waiting for hugs in the petting corner, shire horses,
sheep shearing, and for the adults, a real ale bar.

Cake decorating competition
Put your imagination and sugar craft skills to the test and
enter our cake decorating competition.
The theme for each cake is Spring.
Bring your entries along where they will be displayed in the tea
tent in the village zone. The public will be voting on their
favourite throughout the day. There will be a prize for the
The cakes need to be entered by 12pm, judging
takes place from 12pm to 3pm and prize giving is around 3.15pm.
Maximum size of each cake is 30 x 30 cm.
There are two age categories; under 14’s and over

Due to limited spaces at Riverside Country Park, visitors are
encouraged to use the Park and Ride and Park and Walk options
Park & Ride - £1.00 per person (return). Children under 16
go free. Service runs from the main car park at the Historic
Dockyard, Chatham (look out for the yellow Park & Ride signs) –
running from 10am to 6pm.
Park & Walk service - Park for £2.00 per vehicle at Bloors
Wharf (bottom of Bloors Lane, off Lower Rainham Rd) and enjoy a
pleasant 15min walk to the event along the river path - signs will
be visible along the way.
There is limited car parking on site at £3.00 per vehicle.
Parking will be aimed primarily at blue badge holders.
Riverside Country Park is covered under the Medway bus routes.
It should be noted that the Saturday bus service does not enter the
Riverside Country Park site.
