Information for schools

The museum is a wonderful resource for supporting work in schools and, through the use of local objects, enlivening the curriculum. We want Medway pupils to take pride in the place they live.

Admission to the museum is free as are its high quality, on-site, taught education sessions. Choose from a set programme or work with the education team to develop a bespoke experience precisely geared to your pupils’ specific learning objectives.

Get in touch too, if you would like to organise a tailored CPD twilight event for a group of teachers. This could be on a specific subject (pre history, Romans, Castles etc.) or more general skills relating to teaching from objects (for example, using them to inspire great creative writing).

An outreach service, which takes objects into Medway schools and offers themed teaching in the classroom, is also available for a small charge.

Contact the Education Team to discuss how our collections and expertise can add value to your work in the classroom on 01634332680 or by email to Jeremy.clarke@medway.gov.uk

100 Objects that made Kent

Funded by Arts Council England, 100 Objects that Made Kent is a partnership project aimed at improving museum services for schools. We have highlighted 100 objects that helped make Kent the fascinating county it is today. They can readily be seen on display at one of the partner museums – go to the website for more details:  100 Objects that made Kent
