Medway has a busy summer of sport planned once again this year with opportunities galore for everyone to get active and enjoy some sporting fun.

Dust off your bikes, book onto a ride or head down to Medway Park with or without out a bike to enjoy the Medway Big Ride  cycling festival with a special guest appearance by Peppa Pig.

Join in the Medway Mile 10th anniversary celebrations on Friday, 21 July in Rochester Castle Gardens.

Plus don't miss out on our parksport programme coming to a park near you this summer.


Pitch up and play at a park near you this summer. We are running free, pop-up sports sessions in parks across Medway on weekday evenings through the summer, as well as weekend parksport festivals on Saturdays throughout the summer.

Major Sports EventsHandball at Medway Park

Medway is once again proud to be hosting a series of national and international sporting events this summer, including Dutch v British handball and football events as part of the 350th Battle of Medway celebrations, the inaugural UK Pickleball Championships and the Wheelchair Rugby League Premier League Grand Final.  


Holiday ActivitiesSports Camps at Medway Park

Looking to keep your children occupied and active this summer? Why not book them onto a sports camp at Medway Park. Our team of qualified coaches will lead them in a range of sporting activities Tuesday-Friday each week of the school holidays. for 7-12 year olds.

Plus new for 2017

Medway Park and Strood Sports Centre will be running two-hour activity sessions in a range of sports including ultimate Frisbee, bubble football and archery tag.  Alongside these dryside activities are added water sports at Splashes.

The sessions will run from 10am to 12pm, 12pm to 2pm and 2pm to 4pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday through August. Full programme to follow. 

Each session costs £5 per person.  They are suitable for people aged 12 and over.  There is no need to book, just turn up and pay at reception.


Swimming lessons

Did you know that the Medway Sport Swim Academy is running crash swimming courses through the summer holidays for levels 1 through to 7. So whether you want to get your child onto an intensive beginners' course or want to refresh your swimming skills ready for a summer holiday by the sea, why not book onto a course at your nearest pool.

Summer at The Strand

Enjoy a sunny day’s fun at Medway’s outdoor pool and riverside leisure park. The outdoor pool is open weekends from 27 May and daily throughout the school holidays) 11am-5pm. Other attractions include swimming, paddling pool, crazy golf and tennis.

Pop along to your nearest sports centre for a day of free wheelchair Rugby Leagueactivities and offers. Full details and timetables available closer to the day.

Disability Sport Open Day - Saturday, 23 September 11am-3pm

Pop along to Medway Park sports centre to try a range of disability and Paralympic sports and get advice from colleagues from Medway Community Healthcare.  Activities include wheelchair rugby league, basketball, tennis and dance, football, disability cricket, sitting volleyball, goalball and new age kurling and swimming. Free admission.
