International handball returned to Medway Park as London's
Olympia Handball Team took on LK Zug from Switzerland in the
third round of the European Handball Federation's Women's
The weekend's action also included junior, development and Men's
Super8s fixtures on the purpose-built court being installed at
Medway's centre of sporting excellence.
European Women's Table Tennis Team Championships Qualifier
Medway Park, 22
England took on Slovenia at Medway Park in a qualification
event for the European Women's Table Tennis Team Championships.
With only a hair’s breadth between the two countries in the
world rankings, the tie was a thriller with England emerging
victorious in the deciding match up.
Victory went a long way towards determining England’s
qualifying position for the European Championships.
The event was organised by Table Tennis England.
European Wheelchair Rugby League Championships
International wheelchair rugby league returned to Medway Park in
England, France, Wales, Ireland and Scotland battled it out to
be crowned European Champions during four action-packed
days of competition.
More than 2,000 people packed the stands during the tournament
to cheer on the team, and were treated to a nail-biting final
between England and France.

Medway Park also hosted the Premier League Grand Final between
Halifax WRL and Leeds Rhinos in September 2016, the first event
since being named as the official home of England Wheelchair Rugby
Men's Under 21 Handball World Championship Qualifiers
Medway Park welcomed 60 international athletes
through its doors in January 2015 to compete in the European
qualifiers for the Men’s Under 21 Handball World Championships.
Four international teams – GB, Hungary, Israel
and the Netherlands – battled it out to be winners of qualification
group C but it was the Netherlands who beat all their rivals to
claim a place in the World Championships in Rio in the summer
The Netherlands won all three of their qualification matches,
the decisive victory coming against Hungary in a thrilling match
which finished 19-18.
This event was the first time since the 2012
London Olympics that Great Britain had hosted an international
handball event, so it was a privilege for Medway Park to be chosen
as the venue.
More than 1,000 spectators embraced the
opportunity to watch elite athletes in action and be part of
the fast-paced, exciting sport. Their drums, flags and
chants contributed to an immense atmosphere..
Experts were on hand at half-time to
provide analysis and give spectators the chance to have a go
with handball taster coaching sessions.
In the lead up to the event Medway Sport
delivered handball coaching sessions to nearly 400 primary school
children and Team GB combined their tough training schedule with
visits to local primary schools, running coaching sessions for more
than 125 enthusiastic children and staff.

European Veterans' Team Fencing Championships 2016
International sport returned to Medway Park
for with a major event celebrating 25 years of veteran fencing in
Ninety nine teams of competitors from
than 29 European countries took part in the event from Thursday, 5
to Sunday, 8 May.
The competition featured all three forms
of Olympic fencing – sabre, foil and epée.

Sitting Volleyball - May 2016
GB took on Canada in a weekend
showcasing Paralympic sport at Medway Park.
The women’s sitting volleyball international
weekend served as a warm up event for Canada as they prepare
to compete in the Paralympic Games in Rio later in the summer.
