Medway Big Ride

2017 will be the 10th anniversary of the Medway Mile, and in this celebrative year we will be offering participants that attend all three of our mass participation events a commemorative interlocking medal in appreciation of your support for our Medway sporting legacy programmes.

 

The new look Medway Big Ride event will take place Saturday, 17 June 2017 as part of the Medway in Flames celebrations.

The event is designed to encourage residents to get on their bikes, becoming more physically active in an enjoyable and safe environment and is linked to Medway Cycle Action Plan and works in partnership with A Better Medway Active Medway Cycle Groups programme.

 

Evans RIDE IT Road Sportive

Big Ride sportive 2014

Evans have teamed up again with Medway Council to bring RIDE IT to the Medway Big Ride Cycling Festival.

The sportive routes start from Medway Park and take riders on a tour of the Kent countryside heading east towards Faversham then south into the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's a mixture of rolling terrain interspersed with short sharp climbs and a few longer and more challenging climbs to test riders on the longer route.

Medway Ride together Medway Big Ride 2016

Organise your family and friends and your bikes and join others near you on a led ride, all for free.

We are delighted to announce a series of new led rides as part of the Big Ride programme. The routes will converge, all converging on our Big Ride event at Medway Park. 

  • Chatham Central Ride
  • Deangate Peninsula Ride
  • Rochester Riverside Ride
  • Rainham Wigmore Ride
  • Strand Riverside Ride

The led rides start from sites across Medway during the morning and have various pick up and meeting points on the day. They will all have a pit stop at Medway Park, to join in the activities and enjoy the refreshments, as well as collect your commemorative medals. Full route details and pre-registration available from April 2017.

We are also promoting the Medway 33 mile and 20 mile Estuaries - Towns - Downs Cycle Trail on the day encouraging residents to get out on their bikes for the day with a downloadable map (to follow).

 

Medway Big Ride mass start 2016

Medway Park - 11am to 2pm

The Big Ride event at Medway Park will offer a busy programme of free cycling-themed activities.

There will be rides and races round the Medway Park track in association with Wigmore Cycling Club, as well as a bike and parkour stunt show and fun interactive bike challenges.

There will be a family treasure trail ride on the day as well with a chance to collect the Big Ride Teddy Bear.

Then refuel with some refreshments before heading back out on your bikes for the return journey.
