Gold - Brompton AcademySecondary School of the Year Brompton Academy

The PE Department at Brompton academy has grown and developed tremendously, working hard to create new opportunities and partnerships and grow participation and achievement.

The Academy now offers impressively-attended after school clubs in two sports every day and has secured satellite funding for activities linked to many leading local clubs that has also led to the creation of new school teams as well as an expanded and more varied curriculum.

A major focus has also been made on promoting leadership and coaching opportunities with club and national governing bodies. Competitive successes have included the Academy’s cheerleading squad who became National Champions in July 2016.

Silver - The Rowans

With only 54 pupils on role, and one of the only alternative provisions in Medway for excluded pupils, The Rowans excels in its delivery of quality PE and school sport and has achieved the School Games Gold Mark.  The Rowans has introduced four whole school sporting events and an annual sports day, is fully included in the Medway Secondary School Games series competing against mainstream schools and has worked hard to develop other extra curricular activities. The school is using sport as a tool in many other subject areas and to engage pupils, transforming their lives, developing self-esteem and providing them with key skills for their future.

Bronze - Greenacre Academy

Greenacre Academy is continuously striving to excel and sustain opportunities for pupils to participate in PE and sport. The Academy enters every event in the Medway Secondary School Games and encouraged intra and inter-school competitions. It has worked hard to retain the School Games Gold Mark. Competitive successes include victory in the indoor rowing and futsal competitions and an overall second place in the Games series 2015-2016. The Years 7, 8 and 11 teams were also all runners up in the 2015-2016 Football League.
