Callum Fowler was selected for the Great Britain squad to compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 World Championships.

The championships were held in Tallinn, Estonia in March 2008.

At 16 years old, Callum was the youngest member of the 20-man squad and one of 12 attacking players.

Callum is the latest athlete to be signed up to the Medway Elite Athlete Support Programme and the first from a winter sport.

The Rainham Mark School pupil, who also lives in Rainham, plays for the Chelmsford Warriors junior and men’s teams.

He has been a member of the England ice hockey set-up since the age of 11.

At the age of 15, he was a member of the England under-16 side that won the Verwijst international tournament in Tilburg, Holland, the first time that England had won at this level for 22 years.

Medway Council wished Callum the best of luck for the world championships.
