Medway athlete picks up county championship double

On 7 March Stuart Hitchcock, one of Medway's most promising young athletes competed at the Kent under 20 indoor championships. Stuart jumped a personal best jump in both the long jump and the triple jump to become the under 20 county champion in both events. Stuart's jump in the long jump was also a championship best. The double victory was not a surprise. Stuart has been county champion in both of the indoor and outdoor field events in his age group since 2003. Stuart recently competed for Great Britain (GB) for the first time against the Netherlands in a jump contest. Stuart helped the GB team to victory and hopes to represent his country again in the future. |

Stuart's aim for this year is to jump beyond 7m in the long jump and beyond 14.30m in the triple jump. He is in good form this season and hopes to beat this target.
