About a hundred young Medway athletes competed in the tournament, which was organised by Steve Waud, the manager of the Howard Table Tennis Centre. The Howard Table Tennis Centre was built in 2005 with the help of a donation from Sport England. The centre is ranked among one of the top 10 purpose-built facilities in the country and is part of Medway’s bid to host a pre-Games training camp. The pupils taking part received a visit from one of the day's special guests, Steve Backley. To read Steve Waud's account of the day's play see the table tennis report |
