Promoting the beautiful game for Medway's women

A new women's five-a-side football league is to be launched in Medway.

Medway Council's Sports Development Team and the Kent County Football Association want to encourage more female adult participation in sport, and working with Medway Leisure, is going to take advantage of the excellent new Kicks Soccer Centre to introduce the new league.

It is hoped the growing trend in five-a-side football, the fantastic new surface and purpose built facility in Strood and the growth and demand of the female game will attract new players and teams to support the women-only league.

The leagues will be held on Wednesday nights between 7 and 9pm.

The Sports Development team will also be running some friendly taster sessions for women to have a go at the sport and to get involved without being in a team, whatever age, ability or experience.

The team will also aim to link players to local female 11-a-side teams for anyone wishing to pursue playing further.

The league will start on Wednesday, 9 January 2008 and initially run for 12 weeks.
