The 17-year-old Blackheath and Bromley Harrier moved to Medway last year from Peckham in South London.

She received her international call up in May 2007 when she represented Team GB in the Loughborough International match.

She then went on to compete in the World Youth Games in Ostrava in July.

Shaunagh, who lives in Gillingham, has seven national, five regional and 13 county titles to her name.

They include three gold medals in the English Schools, one at the AAAs Championships in 2006 and a victory at the UK School Games 2006, where she also captained the London girls' team.

Shaunagh has also enjoyed success in 2007 with her club. Blackheath and Bromley Harriers won the National Junior League title and came fifth in the European Club Cup. Individually, Shaunagh won a gold and silver at the national finals and a bronze in the European event.

Medway 2012 manager Bob Dimond said: "Shaunagh is an incredible talent and we're delighted to welcome her to our Elite Athlete Support Programme.

"It just goes to show what a depth of talent we have here in Medway, and no doubt there are even more sporting stars out there waiting to be unearthed."

The Medway 2012 Elite Athlete Support Programme offers sports science, facility access and financial assistance to international-standard athletes in Medway. Find out more about the scheme and selection criteria.
