New community running club
|
The management of the Black Lion Leisure Centre is leading the way in getting everyone ready for this year’s Medway Mile. A new Medway Milers running club is being launched at the centre to allow people to run with other people two lunchtimes a week as people begin making preparations for the big day. |
|
Dave Young and Paul Johnston, who were among the hundreds of people who completed last year’s inaugural Medway Mile, will be leading the group runs with support from fellow leisure centre and council staff.
The jogs will take place initially on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes, starting on Tuesday, 17 June. Anyone interested in taking part should simply meet in the Black Lion reception at 12.40pm, kitted up and ready to run.
The Medway Mile course takes in roads surrounding the centre in Mill Road, Gillingham and the large fields at the back of the centre. The runs will take approximately 10 minutes.
Admission to the centre and participation in the organised run is free and everyone who completes it can enjoy a free swim afterwards.
