Businesses prepare to do battle

There were 11 businesses ready to do battle in a five-a-side football tournament to kick off the 2008 Medway Business Games competition.

The tournament was held at the newly-opened Third Generation Kicks Soccer Centre at Strood Sports Centre from 2pm to 6pm on Friday, 29 February.

Local companies including HSBC, Lloyds, Furley Page and Henry Schein joined Canterbury Young Professionals, mhs homes and media representatives from the Medway Messenger taking on the army, police. Medway Council and a team from the sports centre.

Gillingham Football Club supported the event and provided a Gills player to present the winner's trophy at the end of the competition.

There were also be prizes for the player of the tournament and the best player from each team, courtesy of Gillingham FC and Kicks.

The tournament formed part of the Medway Business Games 2008 programme. There will also be tournaments in badminton, table tennis, golf and netball over the coming months. Why not sign up today?
