Grants lay foundation for success

Sports clubs across Medway will get a boost from new grants to develop their coaching and facilities.
The main aims of the funding from Medway Council are to encourage clubs to develop links with schools and the community, work towards Clubmark status and help local coaches build their skills.
Medway Rugby Club successfully applied for a grant last year. The club’s schools liaison officer, Trevor Jefferies, said the benefits are still being seen today.
He explained, "We gained links with a number of schools who in the past have struggled to run tag rugby within their school due to a lack of resources and equipment. The grant helped build these partnerships and supply schools with equipment and the club has gained new players from it.”
Grants of up to £500 are available and applications must be received by 1 October 2008.
Further guidance and an opportunity to download an application form are available on this website. Alternatively, please contact Sports Development Officer, Sarah Risby, on 01634 338766 or email: sarah.risby@medway.gov.uk.
