2008 Disability Youth Games

More than 100 children from seven local schools took part in the second Disability Youth Games.

The competition took place at the Deangate Ridge Sports Complex, where the young athletes competed in archery, athletics, boccia and kwik cricket.

These events form the summer section of the games which follows on from a skiing event held at Capstone Ski Centre in the spring.

The results from the four summer events are listed below.

The games give children from Medway's special schools the chance to take part in competitive sport against children from other schools in a friendly environment.

The inaugural games were held last year after a successful bid to Medway's Youth Opportunity Fund from Bradfields School pupil Lee Monk.

If any sports clubs or groups in Medway are interested in starting their own disability sports club or section they should contact John Hatchet of the Sports Development Team on 01634 338763 or email john.hatchett@medway.gov.uk for guidance and funding advice.
