Medway Park site included in World Heritage bid

A public consultation on the Great Lines City Park, within which lies Medway Park, drew in a packed audience of local residents.

The central courtyard of the Royal Engineers Museum, which is situated less than 500 yards from the Medway Park site, was the setting for the consultation event that was used to discuss the future look of the city park.

The top-quality sporting centre being created at the Black Lion Leisure Centre falls within the boundary of the city park and will provide some of the park's recreational facilities.

A look back through the archives shows that the Great Lines were used by the army at the nearby barracks for sporting competitions that drew in vast crowds. The completed Medway Park will serve that purpose in the twenty-first century.
