Open Weekend

The Medway Badminton Association Centre will open its doors to visitors on the weekend of 26 and 27 September 2008 as part of the London 2012 Open Weekend.

The weekend kicks off the Cultural Olympiad, a four-year national celebration of culture and sport. Approved pre-Games training camp facilities across the UK will be opening their doors to visitors.

The weekend will give you a chance to take a look at the centre - approved by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) - and find out more about playing badminton in Medway.

During the Open Weekend the badminton centre will be hosting the Kent Badminton Restricted Tournament. It is the 60th year of the tournament, which will be used to select the Kent team players. Previous winners include Peter Knowles, who competed for Great Britain at the 1996 Atlanta and the 2000 Sydney Games.

Medway Badminton Association will be able to take groups of people to tour the centre every hour, from 11am to 3pm. Bookings will need to be made in advance. To book a place, please call Bob Ellis, the centre manager, on 01634 572187.
