High Five for Wainscott Primary School

Wainscottt Primary School ran out undisputed winners at this year's Mini Youth Games (MYG) netball event.

In the event featuring 250 children from 31 schools Wainscott won every one of their eight matches and beat St Thomas of Canterbury School on goal difference. Elaine Primary School finished third.

High Five netball is England Netball's primary school version of the game for boys and girls. Its name comes from the fact that each team has five players. The five team members take it in turn to play in defence, centre and attack.

Wainscott also won the prize for the highest-placed small school, a competition open to schools with fewer than 50 pupils in Year 6, making them the day's double winners.

The Fair Play Award, judged by teachers and parents present on the day, was given to Chattenden Primary School.

The netball tournament was the second of this year's MYG. The successful games continue in November with the tag rugby tournament being held at Medway Rugby Club's Priestfield ground.
