This is a £1million, government-funded, purpose-built facility dedicated to table tennis. The self-contained centre is affiliated to the English and Kent Table Tennis Associations and can be made available to any visiting team 24 hours a day. Since opening in 2005, the Howard has established itself as a centre of excellence for table tennis in south-east England and has been described by English Table Tennis Association Chairman Alex Murdoch as one of the top table tennis centres in the UK. Howard has its own full-time manager who has experience of staging tournaments from community events to national Butterfly Grand Prix competitions. The centre is home to the Howard Table Tennis Club, which has developed relationships with clubs across Europe and hosted four-day competitions involving European visitors. Four junior international players are members of the Howard Club and train at the centre alongside a number of other top players who represent the county and the region. The purpose-built centre has red tarkett multi-sport plastic top flooring on a sprung wooden base and offers an extensive supply of the latest Joola 3000 tables. Ancillary facilities for visiting teams include:

“The Howard Table Tennis Club, an intrinsic part of the centre, has a highly structured development programme from beginners to advanced level.
“The club has grown enormously over the last 12 months and is very excited to be part of Medway’s plans for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“Attracting international standard players to the centre will help the sport’s profile to grow and will aid in the development of Medway’s own stars for the future.”
