Culture and Design Awards

Medway marked the start of its 2012 cultural celebrations by hosting the inaugural Medway Culture and Design Awards 2008.

The awards build on the success of the Medway Design Awards held in 2006 and supplement the council's existing award recognition programmes for sport and business.

They were launched in January 2008 and nominations were open until Saturday, 31 May. The presentation ceremony and celebration of the talents of the nominees was held on Thursday, 27 November 2008.

The awards will be held again in 2010 and 2012.

  • outstanding achievement,

  • lifetime contribution and

  • Medway’s best-kept secret.

A selection of nominees from across the categories are also be selected for the People’s Choice award, where the public votes to decide the winner.

Leader of Medway Council Cllr Rodney Chambers, said: "Medway’s regeneration ambitions and the 2012 Olympics are giving added impetus and importance to design and culture. These awards reflect and promote that. They are an important celebration of creative talent in Medway.”
